Company Overview: 

ASR Health Benefits, based in Grand Rapids, MI, is a fast-growing third-party administrator of health plans, including medical, dental, vision, short-term disability, Section 125 plans, and consumer-directed health plans. We administer these health plans through dedicated client service teams, consisting of staff members from each department at ASR who work together to meet our clients’ needs.

Position Summary:

The Finance Specialist I manages and reconciles client funding accounts for self-funded health plans. This position monitors funding needs, requests and tracks client deposits, and maintains accurate financial records to support timely claim payments and financial reporting.


Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and reconcile client funding accounts for self-funded health plans.

• Monitor claim funding requirements and ensure sufficient funds are available for timely claim payment.

• Reconcile bank activity, claim payments, deposits, and account balances.

• Prepare daily and weekly funding reports for clients and internal management.

• Request and track client funding based on projected and actual claim activity.

• Monitor minimum cash balances and funding thresholds.

• Investigate and resolve funding discrepancies.

• Maintain accurate records supporting each client’s funding activity.

• Assist with client audits and financial reporting.

• Ensure appropriate segregation of client funds and adherence to applicable contractual and regulatory requirements.

• Escalate funding deficiencies or delayed client deposits that could affect claim payments.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial records and reconciliations.

• Ability to analyze account activity, identify discrepancies, and resolve funding issues.

• Organizational skills to manage funding requests, reporting deadlines, and supporting documentation.

• Clear communication skills to report funding needs and escalate concerns to clients and internal management.

• Agreement that your likeness (e.g., name, image, voice, and/or video) may be used in internal and external materials with customers or prospective customers


Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, or at least two years of related experience required.


Work Environment:

• Must be able to work onsite Monday-Friday.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
